Weingut Thurnhof
The Thurnhof estate and its vineyards is located in the area of particular historical interest. It is located at the foot of the hill Virgolo in Bolzano, just 1.5 km from the historic centre. Until recently, the surrounding countryside was quiet and idyllic, producing for many centuries wines for nobility and clergy. Today Thurnhof is a green island in a wide sea of houses. Its owner and enologist, Mr. Andreas Berger, creates here with much effort, passion and expertise, very fine and high quality wines. In the vineyards the producer practice organic farming methods when possible, without the use of herbicides or insecticides and using hardly ever any fungicides. Every two years an alternating soil-cultivation planting is carried out planting special soil-improving herbs. This allows an improvement in soil fertility and strengthens the vines' roots.
